Company urges consumer to become more educated on proper bowling ball maintenance
HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Track fans brace yourselves: Track bowling is about to release the big brother of the ever popular ball 505C ball.
When Track Bowling engineers set out to design the 715C ball, it was with the intent to create a more aggressive product that would still allow the bowler to control the break point. What they created was the new UMP GEN 4C veneer, which has more surface texture than the GEN 3 cover that was utilized in the C series predecessor, the 505C.
“The GEN 4C coverstock has a smoother profile than the GEN 3,” said Ebonite International, Inc., Vice President of Research and Development Randy Teitloff. “The smoother surface of the GEN 4C allows for more surface-to-surface contact with the lane.”
When the surfaces are seen through a high-powered microscope, the GEN 3 coverstock looks like a piece of broken Styrofoam with little beads comprising the surface whereas the surface of the GEN 4C is like a new piece of Styrofoam — the beads can be seen but are smooth.
“The smoother surface on the 715C gives it more traction than the 505C and therefore the 715C will have more hook and a smoother arch into the pins,” he said.
Designers added a pearl essence to the new coverstock purely for aesthetic purposes, according to Track Brand Manager Paul Figliomeni. The pearl tint also gives the ball the appearance of a fireball blazing down the lane toward the pins.
This black, red and gold ball is equipped with the asymmetrical Catback core, as in its 7 series predecessor, so it has an intermediate differential of 0.015 for tremendous striking power. The 715C is sanded with 2000 grit Abralon® and polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish making it a great looking ball that performs best on medium heavy to medium lane conditions.
“The Track brand is all about ball performance,” Figliomeni said. “Our focus is on the performance, which is why instead of a product description we state what our intention is for each ball we make.”
The company is so focused on producing quality products that each new release includes a microfiber cleaning pouch and instructions on its use so customers can properly care for their Track equipment.
“It’s a simple process; after you bowl you spray the Powerhouse™ Energizer Cleaner on the ball and wipe off to remove heavy debris that the ball picks up during the course of a game, drop the ball into the pouch and close it up nice and tight with the draw strings and next league night it’s ready to go,” Figliomeni said. “We can produce great products everyday, but if we don’t teach the customer to take proper care of that product then it doesn’t do a lot of good for us or for them.”
The company also stresses that, even with the cleaning pouch, bowlers visit their pro shop every 100 games for a full-service tune up.
“Treat your bowling ball like you would your car,” he said. “You can change the oil regularly and do other routine maintenance yourself but to keep it running properly you take it to a mechanic for a professional inspection. Your bowling ball should be no different. Track and Ebonite International, Inc., strive to make sure that anyone that sells our products is trained to properly care for them, as well.”
The 715C will be released worldwide Feb. 2, 2010, available in 12 to 16 pounds. For additional information or to see video of the 715C in action, visit the Track Web site at http://www.trackbowling.com. For more information about Powerhouse™, please visit http://www.powerhousebowling.com.
