TRACK’S KRANTZ SHOOTS BACK-TO-BACK 300 FOR 803 SERIES

Aug 11, 2011

Brian Krantz may not have a ton of series over 800, but when he does roll them, he does it with flare.

The Track staff member from Adamstown, Pa. used a 267 triplicate to roll his first 800 series back in 2009. On August, 3, 2011, the 36-year-old posted back-to-back 300 games in an 803 series at Blue Ball Lanes in Blue Ball, Pa.
“Good things happen in multiples for me,” said Krantz. “I figure if you’re going to roll an 800 series, you should at least be able to tell a story.”

Krantz has a great story to tell after using the Track 919C bowling ball. During warm-ups in the Wednesday Night Trio league, he told teammates that he had a good feeling about the night’s competition.
“I told my guys I was going to post a number,” Krantz said. “Maybe not an honor score, but I was going to put something great together.”

It didn’t appear that the night was going to be anything special during the first game. Krantz, a right-handed bowler, had two late open frames in a 203 game.

“The lanes transitioned pretty fast, but I was able to catch up with it,” Krantz said.

Krantz made an adjustment with the 919C and put it all together in game two, stringing 12 strikes in a row for his 25th perfect game. As the strikes kept piling up in the third game, Krantz said he kept laughing and talking with his teammates.

“About the seventh frame of the last game, I looked at my teammate and told him I was going to do it again,” Krantz said. “He told me, ‘Yeah, you’re crazy. Well, go ahead and do it again.’”

And that’s just what Krantz did, rolling 24 straight strikes to hit his career high 803 series. Krantz said he was more nervous after the series than when he was rolling it.

“I had no nerves whatsoever, which really surprised me,” said Krantz. “Usually in that situation, I feel the adrenaline pumping. But in the 10th frame, I told myself that I already shot 300, so I had nothing to prove to anyone.”

A Track staff member for five years, Krantz said the 919C was unlike anything he’d ever seen on a bowling lane.

“The 919C gave me a different look on the lane,” he said. “The reaction shape is different than anything I’ve ever seen under the Track banner. The continuation through the pin deck and carry with the ball is amazing.”

Krantz says the ball’s versatility has made it his favorite of Track’s new releases.

“I haven’t put it down all summer,” Krantz said. “I haven’t thrown 6-8 games with any other ball. I don’t lose carry when I move deeper. It’s a very versatile piece.”
