TRACK INTRODUCES NEW 7 SERIES WITH 718A

Track is kicking off 2011 with an all-new 7 Series bowling ball, the 718A.

The manufacturer’s intent for the 718A is to be a better version of the highly popular 715A, according to Track Brand Manager Paul Figliomeni.

“I have been waiting for two years to be able to explain to the world the way the numbering system is designed to worked,” he said. “On July 9, 2009, Track introduced the 715A to the world. During the last two years, we have been working on the newer and better version of the 715A, one that is more usable for the masses.”

Track put its ear to the ground and listened to the various likes and dislikes about the 715A from pro shops, consumers that wrote or e-mailed the company and scouted out the various social media sites.

“If they said it, we wanted to know about it,” Figliomeni said. “The numbering system is based on the high-end car industry. When BMW comes out with a new 5 series, its engineers immediate go to work on making the next version.”

The same goes for the engineers at Track bowling, Figliomeni said.

The 715A was the company’s first attempt at a truly angular ball, the brand manager said. Bowlers with high rev rates loved this ball.

When specifications of the 715A and the new 718A are compared side-by-side, what stands out is that the RG has been lowered and the differential has been raised by a significant rate, which will make the new Robot core roll up sooner for the lower rev players, according to Figliomeni.

“The surface has been adjusted from 4000 grit on the 715A to 2000 grit on the 718A,” he said. “So, what we have created is a ball that utilizes a stronger core and cover combination to cater to the lower rev players.”

High revs players shouldn’t panic, though.

“Players with higher rev rates should just use a drill pattern that will reduce the flare by 10 percent and take the cover to 4000 grit, and you will be set for success,” Figliomeni said.

The 718A is available in 12 to 16 pounds and is black, blue and caramel for great shelf appeal. It utilizes the Robot core, which is surrounded in the UMP GEN 4A veneer. Like with all Track releases, the 718A will come with a microfiber cleaning pouch with instructions on its use.

To extend the longevity of your bowling ball, the best thing you can do is clean it after every series. For best results immediately after bowling, spray the ball with Powerhouse™ Clean ‘n’ Dull and wipe off all the streaks and rubs, then spray the ball again and place it in the pouch, put it in your bag and it will be ready for the next set.

The 718A will be available world-wide Feb. 3, 2011.
