TRACK INTRODUCES 916 ALL TERRAIN HP BALL

Track is once again revolutionizing the bowling industry with its newest high performance ball, the 916 All Terrain.

Two years ago, Track scrapped the traditional naming system and established a new standard for naming bowling balls by engraving on the side of each ball what consumers could expect in the performance of every Track ball.

“We explained the core strength, the cover strength, and the hook style of each ball using our unique numbering and letter description to serve as the name for the new Track bowling balls,” said Track Brand Manager Paul Figliomeni. “But, with this new ball, we ran into a situation that I had not anticipated.”

The ‘situation’ was what to name this ball that didn’t fit into one single category.

“The 916 All Terrain has the potential to be both a Track-tion ball and an Angular ball,” Figliomeni said. “So, I was faced with the problem of what to call it; thus the name All Terrain, because that best describes the anticipated ball motion on the lane.”

The manufacturer’s intent was to create a new 900 series ball that would be very angular in its motion.

“Going in that direction, we made a modification to the Leggo core,” Figliomeni said. “This was done specifically to create a balance between the horsepower of the core and performance of the new HP GEN 4 All Terrain coverstock. The combination resulted in the increased performance that comes from the new base resin formula.”

After research and development added the performance pearl, they saw the true potential of this formula, Figliomeni said.

“We originally thought that this mix would produce a ball that was Angular,” Figliomeni said.

And, it did, but while testing on various lane conditions, the brand also found that when sanded, the ball exhibits a true Track-tion shape; even on the mostly heavily oiled lanes it will continue through the pocket and rack, he said.

“Basically, what bowlers can expect is that when polished, the 916 All Terrain will perform like a strong ‘A’ ball,” Figliomeni said. “When sanded the 916 All Terrain will perform like a strong ‘T’ ball. This is an exceptional bowling ball.”

Like all Track bowling balls, the 916 All Terrain will come with a microfiber cleaning pouch with instructions on its use. After bowling, all you have to do is place the ball in the pouch, add a few drops of Powerhouse® cleaner and rotate the ball around a few times, put it in your bag (still in the pouch) and the next time you’re ready to bowl, take it out and you’re ready to go.

“We feel this is a great addition in order to help our customers maintain their ball at its top performance level,” Figliomeni said.

The Track 916 All Terrain will be available world-wide in 12 to 16 pounds on Nov. 11, 2010.
