The “Dead Man’s Curve” pattern is generally known as one of the more difficult sport patterns created by the Kegel bowling corporation. David Beck, a collegiate bowler at Florida State University, was not afraid of the challenge.
Kegel designed a series of patterns to give competitive bowlers a chance to compete on something other than normal league or house conditions. The “Dean Man’s Curve” pattern is a particularly difficult one. With lane conditioner spread to 43 feet in length, this pattern tends to have more out of bounds areas than a normal league shot, due to the extra volume of lane conditioner placed in the track area between the 10th and 15th boards. Bowlers who try to hook the ball with too much speed will find this pattern extremely difficult to score on.
Bowling in the Seminole Sport Shot league at Crenshaw Lanes in Tallahassee Florida, Beck recently achieved perfection on this demanding pattern with his Track 505A.
“This was only my 5th game with my new 505A,” Beck said. “I switched to the 505A for the fill ball of the second game because my other ball was starting to hook a little early. I continued to use the 505A the third game when I shot 300!”
“We at Track Bowling are very impressed and happy for David,” said Track Brand Manager Paul Figliomeni. “Not only did David bowl a perfect game, but he did it on such a demanding pattern and with one of our best balls.”
