NEW TRACK 920T OFFERS FIRST TRULY HYBRID VENEER

On June 17, Track, the fastest growing brand in bowling, will release the newest member of its powerful 9 Series of bowling balls, the 920T.

The 920T was designed to be the most versatile high performance ball on the market. Previous balls in the 9 Series provided powerful hook in heavy oil, but the 920T will give more ‘track-tion’ as the lanes become drier, allowing competitive bowlers to keep striking through the transition.

The core used in the 920T is a modified version of the popular asymmetrical Leggo core. By lowering the density of the inner core, and raising the density of the outer core, Track’s R&D Team was able to create a higher RG (radius of gyration) that will help the 920T get down the lane further than previous balls in the series.

But the real technology with the 920T comes from the coverstock. At Track, all covers are mixed on site at the factory, not by a third party, like at some manufacturers. This allows Track’s R&D Team to have more control and flexibility in creating quality veneers.

Track’s research showed that there were properties in two different coverstock systems previously developed by Track: the HP Gen 2 used in the UpRising ball, and the HP Gen 3 used in the 930T, without the mica. But Track’s manufacturing system did not have the capability of pouring a combination of those veneers. The R&D Team and the Manufacturing Team at Track spent countless hours in collaborative discussion to develop a new pouring system that would allow them to create the veneer they needed for the 920T.

The result of this collaboration was an entirely new three step pouring system, which allows them to mix both the Gen 2 and Gen 3 veneers independently before mixing the two together. This means the 920T is Track’s first truly hybrid veneer – the Inter-Mix Technology (IMT) cover.

The surface of the 920T utilizes a four-step sanding process of 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 grit Abralon®. The black cherry color looks great on the wall and in the bag.

Because the 920T is in the 9 Series, you know it is a high performance ball. The ‘20’ in its name indicates the ball’s intermediate differential, or the strength of its core. The ‘T’ indicates that the cover on this ball knows how to gain ‘Track-tion’ on the lane. This ball won’t quit when faced with medium to heavy oil conditions, and can be depended on for more than one game when the lanes start to dry up.

“This ball hooks like crazy,” said District Sales Manager Mike Snellbaker. “You can screw up and the 920T lets you get away with it.
