New Staff Member Mark Heller has instant success Labor Day Weekend

Tournament: Performance Toyota Challenge
Where: Berks Lanes, Reading PA

Submitted by Rob Herman:  Mark started off this tournament on the slow side, 168.  I started off with my 715A, drilled 40 x 4 1/2 x 40 with 2,000 abralon.  I had a good look with this ball, but I just wasn’t very comfortable early on.  In game 2 I decided to switch to a freshly drilled Kinetic, drilled 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 pin down.  This ball really opened up the back part of the lane for me.  I ended up using the Kinetic the last 3 games, shooting 234, 207, 222 to give me 831 for the 4 games.  I qualified 3rd for the stepladder finals.  In the stepladder, I shot 202 the 1st match and won.  I then bowled my 2nd match, which I lost 234-216 (At least I lost to another Kinetic!) I finished 3rd for the tournament.

Tournament: Labor Day Marathon
Where: Limerick Bowl, Limerick PA

I started the practice session with a 930T drilled with the box #3 drilling and 1,000 abralon.  I was able to use this ball right up until the last few minutes of practice when it seemed to be reading the front part of the lane a little too early. I quickly switched to a Kinetic Pearl with the same layout as my Kinetic. This was the perfect switch for me!  It got down the lane a little further than the 930T and had enough roll on it for the heavier pattern.  I was able to throw this ball all 8 games, only having to make small moves all day.  My games were fairly consistent, shooting 224, 183, 237, 212, 218, 245, 203, 213 for an 8 game total of 1735.  I ended up winning the tournament by 80 pins and bringing home the $600 1st place prize.  I also won the eliminator games 3-7 for an additional $275!
